Buying 2015 Fit Ex

Hello!

I'm new to the forum and I'm sure there are already threads like this so I'm sorry if I'm repeating, but I'm test driving a few cars tomorrow and looking to buy. One if them is a 2015 fit ex. It's at 85k miles and selling for 11k and I just wanted to get some thoughts on it. I'm probably going to use it to uber around the city, as well as long road trips so I'm looking for something that'll work for those things. I'm also not that great mechanically, I got most of my mechanic tips on my last car through another forum, so if there's anything I might have in store I'd love to hear about it.

Thank you!

$11K seems a lot of money for a 2015 Fit with 85k miles. I suggest checking prices in cargurus.com to get an idea what people/dealer are asking.

Garceman, the injectors on the 2015's have been failing both in and out of warranty. For this reason, I don't recommend a 2015 unless you like the idea of having to fork out well into four figures for repair. Search this subforum for details. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but injector failure is something you should be aware of because it might be going very soon.

Unless the injectors have already been replaced on that car.

Whoa! That's definitely the kind of information I was looking for. I'll see if I can check information on the car and see if maybe they've already been replaced. Thanks so much for the information!

You're welcome. The problem we're seeing is that Honda redesigned the injectors for 2016 but never acknowledged a design defect. Meaning that if your 2015 injectors gave out on mile 36,001, repair was on you, and Honda could not be counted on for any goodwill toward repair. There have been isolated reports of assistance, but the majority of folks here are hearing "we can't help you" from Honda corporate.

To add to all this, injectors can only be purchased in flow-matched quads. So no buying just one, you gotta get the whole enchilada.

Please let us know how this plays out. We need as many data points as possible to keep people informed when Honda isn't.

Update on this for anyone who cares. I tested the fit and it's really fun to drive and I had a great time testing it, but with the injector issue and the fact that it hadn't already been replaced on that vehicle I got scared off and went with a boring Prius. I figured with that is know I'll have to replace the battery in the next 50k miles, but I prefer knowing when that's coming up to the possibility of the injectors failing on me unexpectedly.

Thanks again for all your help!

2015 LX here, I got lucky and had the injectors done at 35k under warranty.

Starter is going out in this one now.

I would recommend staying away. It's been reliable but I have had way more problems than I should for a car with 50k miles

have fun with the prius

also ... when you get the SHAKES ... think of me:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ct-...-start-up.html

and, when you start burning oil .... remember .... toyota says its within spec to burn 1 qt per 1500 miles. so dont freak out, just keep adding oil!

TL;DR:
some 3rd gen prius 1.8L engines are prone to HG failure.
