2019 FuEL RANGE Gauge
2019 FuEL RANGE Gauge
Just purchased a 2019 for my step daughter I have owned a 2015 for a while . I noticed the other day that I got into the car and I had 299 miles on the range and then drove it about 5 miles when I got back home it said I had 318 miles , I then went another 10 miles and it said I had 333 miles. Any idea why the fluctuation in the range?

dont know how accurate MPG gauge is , but i'm averaging around 370 miles per tank mixed driving . must be around 36 MPG actual .
not bad , and i'm not that lite footed . strait highway is well into the mid to upper 40's . i've got an AEM intake and a medallian axle-back

I've noticed that the indicated MPG may be calculating MPG while in motion. It doesn't change much while idling in traffic (when it should). Right now my 2019 with 800 miles is about 2.7 mpg lower (actual gas receipt) vs. indicated mpg on the dash.
The range changes based on some sort of recent driving history- does anybody know how this works? When I drive on a highway after a bunch of city driving the range goes up but I'd love to know what it uses- last 30 miles, last two trips, some combination, etc.?
Mazda used a logarithmic averaging equation similar to measuring the area under your mapped mpg curve (think a roller coaster curve when viewed from the side) . But Mazda counted the time under the curve at zero mpg into the equation. I don’t see that same drop on the Fit
