Ambient Meter (Eco Assist)
I was wondering whether anyone's ambient meter (the blue to green lights on the side of the speedometer) comes on BEFORE you start the car. We just had our battery replaced for the first time, and noticed that the ambient meter is on when we get into the car. It's blue when the door is closed and green when the door's open. Is this odd, or did this always happen and I just didn't notice? It seems to go out after I turn the car on and then off. Tried to see whether these lights stay on when the car is locked, but they're so faint normally, and kinda hidden, that I couldn't tell. I'm just concerned that something electrically odd might be going on that might have caused the battery to drain. Of course, this isn't mentioned in the hard copy or online manuals I consulted. Thanks!
Like many things I've seen/read on here, it piqued my interest enough to go down to the garage and check my '15 LX.... it seems to do the same as you stated, just never paid no mind, guessing it's normal, but it is a seemingly purposeless thing for the car to do. Open the driver's door, it's green, get in/close the door, it goes blue...start car, it's blue idling, goes off when engine shut down and stays off opening door to get out and stays off...am calling it normal, and who knows Honda's reasoning behind it...

Seems to be normal

Unrelated to this post, but related to the stupid lights is that I've noticed that sometimes, comparing the "eco lights" to the "instant mpg guage," that the light can be blue when the instant mpg is in the 45 mpg range....I've learned to drive the hills around here - getting off the gas helps a lot, and there are a lot of hills here in the foothills of the Smokys….but of course, the flipside is having to climb the next hill...heh....
I just found another weird thing with my 2017 LX CVT. First, I did confirmed the two blue light around the perimeter of the speed gauge when driver's door is closed and they turn green when the door is opened. No change when I opened the passenger door.
I also noticed for the first time that if I use the key fob (not the EX proximity fob) to lock the doors a red dot located at 3 o'clock in the RPM gauge flashes 8 times and then 1 or 2 quick flashes.
Thief deterrent: If you are in the car and lock the doors with the fob, the horn will beep if you open the driver's door. I assume any door that is opened the horn will beep.
