How many miles will the CVT Transmission typically last?
I keep hearing of problems with CVT transmissions in general. Now I am wondering how long it is going to last before I'll need a new transmission. I've always driven manuals before. 2016 Fit LX.
Can anybody post their experiences with Honda CVT transmission reliability?
Thanks.

We haven't heard any reports of premature CVT failure on the GK5.
Specifically, the known problem areas are: 1. Injectors & rail assembly. 2. Starter, esp. on pushbutton models. 3. VTC actuator. 4. Door leaks in the redesign.
If you haven't had a problem in those areas yet, that's where I'd be most concerned.

The longevity of the CVT probably depends more on your driving style rather than how often you replace the fluid. You can avoid excessive stress on the CVT by avoiding hard accelerations and carrying heavy loads. The Honda CVT design has been around for a while, and is reliable enough to use it in their flagship, the Accord.

I'm not sure where you're getting this nonsense from. The CVT is one of the more reliable components of the Fit.
Good to know, thanks. I'm wanting the CVT transmission to last 200,000 - 300,000 miles without replacement.
Just like with everything Honda. There is no one part number for the CVT trans. There are hundreds of part numbers on the individual pieces inside of the trans. So yes they can be rebuilt. Even the trans case is available for purchase. So that is what they most likely meant. A complete rebuilt trans is not available. But any parts to fix it are available.
I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone actually rebuilding one. If you need a replacement CVT it's probably easier and cheaper to go to a scrap yard and just buy a complete one there. If you want the CVT to last a long time then frequent fluid changes should be done and I'm not sure that I would consider 60,000 miles to qualify as frequent.
How's amsoil working out for you? do you notice the improvement in shifting? I want to switch to Amsoil but unsure whether it'd affect the transmission since Honda recommends using OEM transmission oil only
If you were to ask them I'm sure that Honda would recommend only using Genuine Honda Toilet Paper to wipe your butt. They and their dealers only make money when you buy Honda's products. In some cases though this makes sense. For the CVT I would only use Honda fluid.
It works well. I feel the shifting is smoother as well as the engine. I have no complaints. Been using it for 100,000 miles
