starter problem

Hi,
I have a 2015 Honda Fit, I got my starter replaced in May 2019, and in August 2019, whenever I pushed the start button, there will be two clicking sound then the car started. about a week later, the car won't start on the first try, then second. I brought my car back to the auto repair shop where they replaced my starter, they replaced the starter again for free (since it is still under warranty) . after the second replacement, the car starts fine and no more problem, no more weird clicking sound when start the car. BUT today, this morning, the problem, the familiar sound came back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, there something wrong my the starter again. Will go back to that shop and get them checked....In 6 month, two times........I wonder how long the starter should last??? I guess it should be longer than three months right???

I suspect you have a battery issue. The clicking sound comes from the relay solenoid failing to engage to provide power to the starting motor. Check/clean/remove the white corrosive material from terminals. Add water to the cells if you have a wet type battery and make sure it is fully charged.

There's also the question of your replacement starters perhaps being 3rd party rebuild units where the quality may be much less than desirable. Are these starters genuine Honda new units or just third party rebuild?

when I came back to the auto repair, they told me the battery, and I just changed the battery few month ago.. when I went there to pick up my car, they told me you don’t need to pay, your battery passes the exam. We only replaced the starter, which is still under warranty!!!!

will go back to the shop again, and ask what is going on....

thanks

i really have no idea, I just go there and let them do diagnosis, and then when I picked up the car, everything fixed. And no more problem after three months...
