Electrical Question: Battery to Starter

Is there any component between the battery and the starter motor, or does the starter work directly off the battery?

Wire goes directly from battery to the starter solenoid.

The + of the battery is direct to the starter but this will not work without the ok from the ignition relay which should have 5 pins i.e. 30/87/85/86/86b
