Is Your 3rd Gen Too Low?
Bottom Engine Cover
r u the first owner ?????
Could be the people who do your oil changes. The 6 screws and 2 grommets holding the cover have to be properly returned. Have done all my oil changes since new (Sept., 2014) and have not lost any of them.
The design itself could be sturdier but then again the Fit is an econo-box . The Prius is going upscale. Pay more, get more!!!

Instead you'd rather blame the height of the car. Really?
Yes the attachment at the rear of the cover is a poor design, but if reattached properly it's not an issue.

Eventually? How long were you driving around with it dragging? Didn't you bother to try and reattach it properly?

i would suspect the low wagers who change your oil , yea the fasteners are cheap , you have to be careful with them . i,ve done a few changes on my '19 now and my cover is still good , dealing with it is a little tedious for sure but one thing i've noticed with the cover is that it's keeping the engine compartment clean . if it ever fell off , i'd
get another one

Agreed.

If it makes you feel any better, my cover was torn off when I got high centered in some deep snow about a year ago, and there has been no noticeable difference in fuel economy or anything else. As far as being too low, I lowered mine about an inch and I love it. It's not necessarily about the height, though, if the stock suspension had less dive and roll I might have left it alone.
