"Honda Sensing"

I've been trying to find out about Honda Sensing, but I haven't had much luck. One review said that the Sensing that was available on the 2019 EX is not available on the 2020 EX. Reading the specs, it seems that the 2020 still has the lane watch warning feature - in case the car drifts right or left.

Do any of you know exactly what Honda Sensing is and if it's standard on the 2020 Fit EX? We'll be buying one next week, I hope, and I'd like to know what we're getting.

There are abundant amount of information. Just google "Honda Fit Honda Sensing".
  • 2020 Honda Fit
While automakers are rushing to add active safety features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist to more and more models, the 2020 Honda Fit is dropping the option of Honda Sensing from its two lower trims: LX and Sport. The package, which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, road-departure mitigation, and automatic high beams, remains standard on the EX and EX-L variants.

A general slimming-down of the Fit variants appears to be the reason for the counterintuitive move, as the 2020 Fit also drops its EX manual model. The 2020 Fit model range is reduced to: LX manual or LX CVT, Sport manual or Sport CVT, EX, and EX-L. The latter two are both CVTs.

LX prices rise by $40, and now start at $17,120 with destination. The rest of the line sees a $140 increase. The Sport now starts at $18,530. For both the LX and the Sport, the CVT is another $800. Previously, Honda Sensing could be added to either for $1,000. The EX CVT is now $19,990, while the EX-L is $21,550. The 2020 Honda Fit arrives at dealers on Dec. 16.

Thanks, but as I said, it's confusing. Looking at the Honda site, the Fit is not listed as having Sensing - not even the EX and EX-L. If I can ever get a salesman to answer the phone, I'm sure his answer would be just as confusing as Honda's online posting.

Seems unlikely that Honda would drop safety gadgets. I’ve noticed the Accord website has glaring errors such as eliminating trim level combos that I know are available. So far the “specs” area is accurate so maybe check that out, but the front site model comparison is not. Sloppy.

Well, it's not like we have a choice. Either Sensing is on the EX or it isn't. I just hope it's possible for us to buy a car. I can't keep driving my son back and forth to work every day.

Why are you? Ain't he grown enough to find a way himself and buy a car himself? You seem to do a lot for him...

Unless I drive him to work, he doesn't go to work. We live in the country, and it's a 34 mile round trip.

As for buying the car, I enjoy that type of thing. I even do searches for friends and relatives. He wants another Fit, so that's where I'm looking. Besides, both cars are in my name for simplicity and insurance purposes.

He does a lot for me, too.

I know this may not be what you want to hear, but personally, Honda sensing would interfere with my driving. How reliable is it? Can I trust it 100% of the time? I've been driving for 55 years without an accident. That can be accomplished if you are attentive to your surrounding at all time. Anytime when you depend on automation, you become less attentive, and that is not good when lives are at stake. Currently, your brain still works better than automation when it comes to decision making.

Honda Sensing is on the EX and EX-L for 2020, just like with the 2019 MY. I can see it on Honda's website.

Honda Sensing is a suite of safety and convenience features, namely, Collision Mitigation Braking System (automated pre-collision braking), Road Departure Mitigation System (visual alert and vibrates the steering wheel when you're about to drift out of your lane), Lane Keep Assist System (light steering adjustments to keep you in your lane), and Adaptive Cruise Control.
It's all pretty good, but I wish the ACC wasn't so trigger-happy when slowing down.

2019 Fits had the ability to add Sensing on any model at the Dealer. I chose to not purchase a Sensing model due to my experience on rental cars (it's not ready for prime time IMO).

"Airbags would interfere with my driving"

"seatbelts would interfere with my driving"

"ABS would interfere with my driving"

No. This is a dumb take. The auto-braking comes on in that rare chance you look down. It also "sees" cars one in front of you that you are not capable of seeing.

I turn off the lane keep assist in the city because it can be a little annoying. Outside of that, it does not "interfere" with your driving. It is there in case you mess up. People mess up ALL the time.

I knew it will offend someone. They may be there, but I never had to take advantage of them. Why? Because I am careful on the surroundings when I am driving and not having to depend on these features to save my life.

I do wish I had emergency braking, as the A pillar has caused me some near misses with pedestrians and bicyclists.

I bought a 2020 EX last month and it has Honda Sensing and Lane Watch - FYI. They just dropped it as optional on the LX and Sport.

So since Honda Sensing is on the base model as mandatory, what's the price for the bottom barrel LX for 2020?

No Sensing on the LX or Sport for 2020 - just EX and EX-L.

I believe it's still standard on the Canadian CVT LX and Sport models.
