2015 odd transmission issue?

Hey guys,

Last night driving home from work my fit wouldn't shift into any gear on the bottom of the gate, gears 2/4/6/R. Manual transmission. The issue happened with the car running and not running. Then out of nowhere it stopped and started working fine. Any ideas? I plan on taking it in this weekend but figured I'd post here first.

So 1/3/5 are OK but 2/4/6/R are kaput?

If you can't shift into 2/4/6/R even with the engine off, something is blocking the lower gates. My guess is a mechanical obstruction, but caused by what? Misbehaving software?

I had the same issue on my 5 speed suzuki after I forgot to fill the transmission with oil. Suddenly I had lost access to gears 2/3/4 but 1 and 5 and reverse would work just fine. The loss of access to gears happened suddenly as I was pulling out of a parking lot & I could also not access them with the engine turned off... as if the syncros seized or something.

Agree!
Check the linkage first and around your shifter boot.

here is a longshot..

usally there is sort of strut what keeps the shifter and the engine trans so they cant move independently, are the bushings worn(if we have such a thing)

Follow up with everyone on this thread. I have had zero shifting issues since this post. It happened that day for about 5 minutes and never popped up again. My local Honda shop is on some odd hours because of the whole COVID-19 thing, and I am still working full time so I haven't had a chance to take it in.

As someone else said something was blocking it? It probably fell off? I had the same issue last fall and a squirrel had hidden a walnut on top of the transmission blocking the linkage.
