P0404 Code on 2020 Fit.
So my 1 month old 2020 Honda Fit just threw this code. It only has 2500 miles on it. The dealership has it right now saying they are going to take the engine apart to see why it has thrown this code so early. Any ideas?
P0404 indicates a fault with the EGR valve. Either the computer can't understand what the EGR sensor is telling it, or perhaps the EGR valve is bad itself.
Can't be EGR carbon buildup this early in the game. I vote bad EGR valve. Dealer wants to tear apart the engine on this one? Sure, why not? You might have an extended loaner this way.

One would hope. On a new engine, it's either a faulty part, faulty installation, faulty software, or some combination thereof.
The good news is that if it's just a faulty part, this should take care of the problem, and hopefully no more surprises.

LOL I like the way you think. They gave me an AWD CRV. Also the EGR did not fix the issue. So they are still diagnosing the issue.
I had a Jeep Wrangler once as a loaner - it was a multiple dealer mega lot with one shared rental car place. We took that Wrangler out on any trails and ditches and had a hoot. My son never laughed so hard. We returned it muddy.
I'm not liking this situation for you. Computer is determining an out-of-range condition with regard to exhaust gas recirculation, and it's not the EGR valve itself?
I suggest documenting everything from this point on in case a lemon law return applies. Honda has three chances to get this right, otherwise they buy back your vehicle at the same price you paid. This varies by state. Honda almost always fights these cases as far as they can, which is why good documentation is your friend..
Other possibilities if not the EGR valve itself: EGR sensor or wire (if separate), or possibly even a bad ECM / ECU.
I'm not so sure about the injector / rail assembly throwing an EGR code. I thought the injector failure started with random cylinder misfire codes. Hasn't happened to me so can't speak from experience.
Keep us posted. I for one would like to know what's going on with a basically new engine going nuts.

I will keep everyone posted. The good news at least for Honda and the dealership is they are the ones that determined the egr valve did not fix the problem. It was not released to me. This is a good thing imho because they are making sure the problem is fully resolved so they don't have an issue like that. I am keeping documentation on everything and they text me with updates so I have those as well for my doumentation.
