Clutch slipping after 65k miles? (M/T)
Clutch slipping after 65k miles? (M/T)
The clutch on my 2015 is slipping really badly. In any gear, when I give it more than 50% throttle the revs jump but very little power is sent to the wheels. It started doing this more or less out of the blue.
Definitely feels like a slipping clutch but I thought it would last more than 65k miles. I've driven manual all my life and pretty sure it isn't my driving- I don't ride the clutch or drive aggressively at all.
Anything I should check before bringing it to mechanic? Maybe fluid levels or cable tension on the clutch pedal? Thanks!

Wow, slipping at 65000? Man...have almost 67000 on our ‘15, and it gets driven hard more often than not. Don’t really have any advice...when I was younger, to check the clutch, I was told to have the parking brake on, put it in 1st, apply gas/release clutch as if driving away...if it stalls, probably OK...if it doesn’t stall, need a clutch. Not much help, I know... I’ve had many cars with manuals over the decades, none of them babied, have never had to have a clutch replaced...did you buy it new or used? Ya never know what a previous owner may have done
it probably doesnt take much oil at all to contaminate a disc...like a teaspoon...so if you have a leak that might be an issue ...i got over 200k out of my 99 civic clutch, so if you know what your doing (and i will assume you do) yea...thats SUPER early....on my 2015 with 34k i dumped the clutch to chirp the tires to let someone know they screwed up and it didn't chirp them so im a bit worried also...its a hydraulic clutch BTW ...basically i would GUESS you've lost a trans or main seal and you need clutch replaced...end of story sadly
