If the 2016 is jacked up in order to steal the catalytic converter, would that trigger the alarm?

Has anybody put on one of those plates to prevent the catalytic converter from being stolen?

I've jacked the front end up to change the oil and I jacked both front and back up to change tires and there was no alarm. So I would say the answer to your question is no. The alarm is there primarily to prevent the car from being broken in to or stolen, but not protect parts from the car from being ripped off. Your Honda dealer will be happy to sell you a replacement catalytic converter if needed.

There are some car alarms that can be installed and trigger when the car is jacked up. I think that might be an effective deterrence against theft.

There have been a rash of catalytic converter thefts in my area. They mostly target Priuses so far.

Honda Fit's do not have factory alarms. Especially ones with build in tilt sensors. lol

Also your cat is connected to your downpipe. So you can't access it without putting the car high in the air and getting in the engine bay from the bottom side.

If your's stolen, you can probably buy it back in eBay.

No, they are stealing them for the minerals inside them, which are very valuable.

I've never looked underneath a 2nd gen car, but on the GK, there is a two part cat that is very difficult to access from under the car. The GK has an exhaust collector cast into the head, so the cat is able to bolt almost directly on. Older cars will need exhaust runners to go into a collector outside the head (conventional exhaust manifold) so the cat is farther downstream and easier to reach. Getting the factory part out to swap an RV6 pipe was a giant pain, I can't help but think a lift would have made it easier.

You can see in some of the photos here the factory cat location.
