Gk5 splash guard installation
Gk5 splash guard installation
Anyone that’s installed splash guards on a gk how hard is it? If it’s just having to remove clips then screw them on I can do that but I’ve heard there’s cutting involved and what not. Please help
There is no cutting. Honda has instructions online for all of their accessories.

Thanks to the OP for that timely — to me, anyway — question.
I have been thinking about those for our new garage princess — if VDOT is doing snow and ice work outside, the 2020 Fit stays inside!
— as we have had those those on our ’09 Fit from purchase. The dealer installed those, but the instructions — thanks, NWCH — look simple enough.
But, NWCH, I wonder about the “no cutting.”
True, no knife or saw work, but drilling, etc., seems close enough to that for anyone seeking to avoid “trauma” to bodywork.
Granted, it seems that all the holes go into tupperware, not sheetmetal.
But I am inclined just now to put off the OEM splash guards and use what I do on my motorcycles’ forks to cut down on damage from road debris, i.e., this: ISC Racerstape Surface Protection Tape / Helicopter Tape, .
For my Guzzis’ stanchions and some other applications, I use the relatively narrow 2-inch width, but may get something wider for the Fit if my temp test seems to work OK.
I am not especially troubled by the black-on-red of the splash guards, but the helo tape is virtually invisible. We shall see theory meets reality with protection.
Best,
Bill

That is yet more evidence why I did not do well in reading-comprehension classes.
Seriously, thanks for that.
That surgery doesn't look too daunting, but I may just stick -- sorry for the unintentional, I swear, pun
-- tape.

Thank @galaxy convoy thats helpful. I was worried about cutting then not cutting in correct place. That makes it a lot easier and less stressful. Lol I really don’t want to pay to have installed.
That's interesting and helpful, galaxy convoy.
I put on the helo tape yesterday. Turned out, as expected, easy to install and virtually invisible. We'll see about effectiveness on the the way to Erie and back this week.
[Note to anyone who wants to try this: do not use the "dry" application method, but use the "soapy water" approach. Easy to adjust for mistakes.]
Notwithstanding my interim approval of the tape, I did look up buying a set of the splash guards after the "it's easy-peasy" comments above. Went here: https://www.onlinehondaparts.com/oem...t-08p00t5a100a
The black on red doesn't look bad, and the price was better than expected. Was surprised to see the "no drilling" claim, given #8 in the instructions NWCH posted.
As long as I am beating this horse to death, I'll add that I may use some of this stuff on the front bumper. Rust-oleum Clear Rock Guard Says it's peels off; we'll see.

Edited to add that, FWIW, went shopping in Manaus, and just found these items:
Less expensive than OEM and look easier to mount.
