Radio Problems

I replaced my original battery, and now the radio doesn't work in my Fit EX. Everything else works, even the display for the side and rear cameras, so it is getting power. It just doesn't turn on, and the display is always black. The dealer replaced the radio under warranty a couple of years ago.

Any ideas?

I'm assuming your head unit is no longer within the warranty, and that taking it back to the dealer would result in at least a diagnostic charge if not a whole lot more, depending on what they find. So $ - $$$$ if you want the OEM to stay there.

If that's the case, this would be an excellent time to consider an aftermarket head unit. Primary concern is retention of the lanewatch and backup cameras, and carplay/android auto if you're into that. Threads here to that effect.

I've been rocking a Sony head unit with Hybrid Audio Technology speakers in all the doors for the last few years and love it. Wouldn't go back to the original head unit if you paid me.

Try press and release of brighness button in upper right of unit to toggle brightness from bright to dim to off and back to bright.

Also, make sure your battery is in top shape as well as the charging system.
Sometimes when there's a power interruption, it can take a while for the systems to all receive full power.

Let me give you some factual information: Electronics do not follow the rules. I have weird things happening with computers, radios, TVs - you name it. They do what they want just to mess with us.

When I went out this morning, the radio screen was black the whole time, except for the cameras. I pushed all the buttons. I went out just now and turned on the ignition. I got the "Honda" screen and then I got a notice that the navigation system, which I don't have, had lost power. It told me to press and hold the power button for two seconds or more. I did that, and it made no difference. I turned the ignition off and on again. The radio went through it's normal start-up.

I don't care what anyone says. There is no logical explanation for it not working for an hour, sort of working, and then working right. All these electronics are connected in ways we can't understand, and they are messing with us. We need a Sarah Connor!

Thanks. It's working fine now, but I don't know why. : )

The God Amun-Ra has favored you by restoring your radio. Bow down and give thanks.
