Engine Vibration for the Honda Fit Sport?
Engine Vibration for the Honda Fit Sport?
I just got a new used 2018 Honda Fit Sport. It’s an upgrade from a 2001 Tahoe. I notice a vibration in the steering wheel, gas and brake pedals, and seats just from the engine running. It gets a bit stronger when I turn on the AC. My old Tahoe didn’t have engine vibration like this. Is this vibration normal, or might it be cause for concern? Thank you!
Welcome. How many miles on the vehicle?
If the vibration is happening with the transmission in neutral, something is wrong. The engine should not be bucking against anything.
On CVT-equipped models, a little bit of vibration enters the cabin and chassis with the foot on the brake at a stop sign, for example. This is normal, but it shouldn't be that noticeable.
Lots of things could be at play here: too high idle speed, throttle body issues, vacuum leak, valves too tight.
Did you have the vehicle inspected before purchase, and do you have any type of warranty?

Thanks. 69000 miles. I bought it from a Honda dealership, and it was inspected before I bought it. It’s under warranty. Sounds like I should bring it in just in case.

Your Tahoe also had a V8. I've owned a couple of V8 Fords, and a Honda V6. Those things can idle super smooth, where smaller 4 cylinders may not idle as smooth. That said, My 2018 Fit Sport w/CVT doesn't vibrate the way you are describing. That would make me think something is either slightly off, or needs adjustment. Definitely bring it back in since there is a warranty, and see what they say.
