Another Newb 2020 Honda Fit LX CVT Oil Change?
Another Newb 2020 Honda Fit LX CVT Oil Change?
Manual says oil fluid change including filter is 3.5 US qts or 3.3L. A couple of youtube videos indicated for 3rd generation that the number is 3.7 US qts. Is 3.5 and 3.7 for all intents and purposes is that about the same? Reason dictates that I should go with what the manual says but thought I would risk getting mocked and ask here. TIA.
If you're going to DIY, go with what the manual says......and always check the level after the engine has been restarted and run for a few minutes........ But, yeah, trust the Honda manual before a Youtube video.......unless maybe the Youtubers have an HRV with a different engine? Dunno the fine points, we just got ours a few weeks back
>If you're going to DIY...
Old with a bad back so no : )

Copy that. Hopefully some others will chime in. Having seen more then one reference that the amount with a new filter is 3.7 and not 3.5 which the manual says I'd like to know which is it when I tell the guy
From the Manual
5. Remove the oil filter and dispose of the
remaining oil.
6. Check that the filter gasket is not stuck to
the engine contact surface. u If it is stuck, you must detach it.
7. Wipe away dirt and dust adhering to the
contact surface of the engine block, and
install a new oil filter. u Apply a light coat of new engine oil to
the oil filter gasket.
8. Put a new washer on the drain bolt, then
reinstall the drain bolt. u Tightening torque:
29 lbf∙ft (39 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m)
9. Pour the recommended engine oil into the
engine. u Engine oil change capacity (including
filter):
3.5 US qt (3.3 L)
10. Reinstall the engine oil fill cap securely and
start the engine.
11. Run the engine for a few minutes, and
then check that there is no leak from the
drain bolt or oil filter.
12. Stop the engine, wait for three minutes,
and then check the oil level on the
dipstick. u If necessary, add more engine oil.
I actually deleted my first post, as, after the fact, wasn’t sure if you were talking about engine oil or CVT fluid… hah… my Fit is a manual, just bought my wife an HRV - actually thought I was on the HRV forum - with the CVT, but, yeah, trust the Honda manual over a YT video
After an oil change I always check the dip stick and have found that the Honda recommended 3.3L does the trick. And yes, I run the engine for a minute so that the oil filter fills up and then I turn the engine off and let everything sit for 15 minutes or more before going for the dipstick. It doesn't have to be exact and sometimes I'm slightly under the recommended dipstick level and sometimes slightly over.
Here in Canada I buy my oil two jugs at a time, that's 2 x 5L Pennzoil jugs and the 10L total means that I have enough for exactly 3 oil changes (3 x 3.3L = 9.9L) with a little left over to spill on myself, the car or the garage floor which I usually manage to do.
