Hello all!

I just bought a nice 2015 Fit with the stock 5 inch non touchscreen stereo head unit without backup reverse camera and I have noticed that on later years this stereo did have the OEM camera option...

Is it possible to add the OEM camera to my car? I don't mind the sound quality of the OEM Stereo head unit and specially I would not like to loose steering wheel controls by changing the unit for an aftermarket one (I know there are options to keep them and I have used them in the past but I would like to avoid them if possible.)

I also know I could use those rearview mirrors with integrated screen/camera but if possible I would just like to add the OEM camera and be done with it.

Any ideas suggestions out there?

I thought they all came with it...I have a Jan '15 build LX (5" non-touchscreen), definitely has a back-up camera....Could there be something wrong, beings as you bought it used? Is there already a camera on the rear? Does the stereo display change at all when you shift into reverse? Perhaps yours is a very early build, when was it built?

 

If I remember correctly, Fits destined for the US market had to have backup cameras by 2015, but Fits destined for the Mexican market did not.

It's possible that Honda implemented a cost-saving measure by not installing cameras on Mexican market Fits.

OP: The Fit's backup camera is routed through the CANBUS system. It would theoretically be possible to hook up a backup camera through this system (if it's compatible) and have it display via the screen. Need a qualified installer to handle something like this.
