Mattress for refresh mode?
Mattress for refresh mode?
I apologize if this has been asked before, but I tried multiple methods of searching and could not find anything no matter what search parameters or keywords that I
2015 Honda fit ex, planning on a cross-country trip, swapping out drivers.
Anyone have suggestions for the passenger side for refresh mode for a really nice mattress for people that can fit in that section while it's in refresh mode? Preferably something that can help against pressure points and bad joints
Thank you so much for understanding all your suggestions and in advance for not getting frustrated if this is the millionth time this has been asked. I truly could not find it and I truly did try

Just a thought.....perhaps an inflatable pool or ocean raft, a durable one than can withstand being pumped up, fit the one side of the car, and can be deflated when not needed...of course, this would be made much easier with a portable tire compressor that has a suitable fitting, blowing one up by mouth would get pld after a time or two. Like I said, just a thought, but, it IS summertime, shouldn't be hard to find one
Thanks for the reply. I apologize for the delay. I was in hospital.
I've thought about a pool mattress of some sort, but the molding on the seats Seems like it would be problematic.
I've also thought about multiple memory foam pillows that can be placed strategically, but those Will likely shift.
There is no room in a Fit for that bedding along with all of your other luggage and passengers. Fit's are for traveling and good gas. But not good for sleeping room. No room. Your biggest or smallest problem.
Just use hotels like we do. Or buy a travel van like we also did after retiring the Fit on long road trips. But trying to convert the Fit into a sleeping space is very hard to do. Especially if you want comfort.

I'm glad you have money to use hotels whenever you want or to buy travel vans.
Not everyone is as fortunate. We have a need to travel And are doing so within our means.
Refresh mode may not be sufficient for your personal luggage or bedding, but it's plenty for ours. We're just trying to figure out the best padding for the passenger side refresh mode.
Additionally, At 183cm (6 ft) i can lie down comfortably on the passenger side on refresh mode on my side, knees slightly bent. Shorter adults can even lie down relatively straight. We've tested it
Refresh mode on the passenger sides has sufficient space for blankets and padding, And still allows for 2 configurations on the driver side which easily, and safely accommodate for a cooler, 2 carryon bags, and several others.
I sleep sitting up and the fit driver Seat has done great for me.
Could you please clarify what you mean with the refresh mode?
I understood it so that you would like to remove the headreast and tilt the backrest all way down to rear. Then you could sleep having the feet on passanger's footwell and head on the rear seat. If that's the intention, the bed will not be quite flat, but I would try 2" open cell foam cut to suitable size on shape. And you probably want to have a pillow as well.
But if your intention was to fold down the rear seat and use the extended trunk, then you will have an almost flat area and less padding is needed. In that case any camping mattress will do the job.

we use an Ikea Morgedal twin mattress to sleep in our GE8 (2009), but i don't know how much of the things we've done will translate to a 2015 model.
in our car, if you push the front seats all the way forward and lean them forward, the mattress can jam in there and be mostly flat, with a slight incline towards the front of the car. there's some room below the front of the mattress in the gap between the front and back seats to store a couple backpacks or totes on the rear seat floorboard. the nice thing about the Ikea mattress is it's just memory foam, so you could fold it in half and kinda strap it down or pile stuff on it when you aren't using it. there's probably a similar and cheaper memory foam mattress at Walmart, i would imagine, but twin is the right size to fit this way. you could always remove the back seats and build a little platform in there from the rear seat hinges forward, but it sounds like you want something you can just throw in there and go, like we did. if you were looking for a mattress that is half the width of the car (so just one side), you can buy rolls of thick memory foam by the foot that are the right width at hardware stores, fabric stores, and even on amazon, and then just sew your own cover for it, if you want one. if you go the split route with two halves, i would just recommend folding the front seat all the way back and then just fill in the gap from there to the back of the trunk area with the foam. make sure to take the headrests out and chuck them in the front footwell. that's what we did for our car camping in the mojave (wasteland weekend) with couch cushions (before we bought the Ikea mattress), and it worked great. our biggest complaint besides the heat was being unable to open the trunk from the inside to crawl out. also, if you're going to car camp, replace your trunk area interior light housing with a switchable one from an Acura (part number 34265-SFE-003 for the GE8, roughly $20) and you can turn the light off when the hatch is open and not drain the battery. speaking of the battery, change it out for a cheaper and better 51R instead of the tiny 151 if yours uses it. i just did that today after my battery died from 10 minutes of listening to the radio in the cold, and it only took about 20 minutes of trimming and hammering to get it to fit at an angle. now if we could somehow figure out how to have quick-release rear seats, it would be the perfect car!
