I need to upgrade alternator to a high output amp, like 250amps. Honda told me I could fry my.computers and not do it. I need to because of my car audio system. Thank you

 

How much do you "need" to fry your electronics?

The computers on cars today are extremely sensitive to current swings. Honda saying "don't do this" isn't an idle warning.

Your car, you can try anything you want. But if you really "need" a car with a whomping stereo, might want to look at one with better current handing capabilities, then you can do anything you want.

I think it would be helpful to both you and other members on here if you included more pertinent information. I understand your wanting to upgrade to a higher-output alternator, but could you provide us with some info on your audio setup and why you want to nearly triple the output of your alternator? As in, how did you come up with 250 amps?
