New stereo that works with right mirror cam (EX manual)

Hi there, I got some Rockford Fosgate speakers and am not super happy with the sound, and my buddy told me I did the reverse - should be doing the stereo, then amp, then speakers. So instead of just going back to stock speakers, I am looking to replace the stock stereo on my 2017 ex manual fit (and eventually upgrade the amp). However, I'm unsure which stereos out there are compatible with the right hand camera. A lot have rear camera listed on crutchfield but I haven't found much around right mirror cam, since the right lane blindspot cam is such a unique feature.

Has anyone had any success with this? And has anyone documented their upgrade journey on a 3rd gen EX?

None will offer a "right hand camera" feature/
You need one that offers multiple video feeds.

I was just looking at the JVC KW-M780BT and when im checking out at crutchfield they offer a $211 kit that includes keeping lanewatch. Seems like you need a headunit that is idatalink compatible and then the added adapters. There is a checkbox in the search features (under General Features) on the left side of the screen when looking at headunits.

If the head unit has a camera input and is compatible with idatalink Maestro, then you're good to go. The Metra adapter is garbage. I have written a review of them somewhere here.

I found it! Very helpful. Would you recommend replacing my stereo, amp and speakers myself if I am a beginner at car modifications?

That isn't an easy question to answer. If you want basic sound, then Bassguitarist's post on a small kenwood amp and 4 speakers will work. I installed a powered sub to round out the sound. The factory head unit is okay but not great. I needed NAV anyways.

If you want much better sound reproduction and have done cross country trips, then that might not be enough. In the end, I spent 7K in equipment alone not including wiring, sound insulation and my time. Also not including the previous equipment that I purchased during the whole process. I am not a bass head so my equipment doesn't reflect that.

Haha I've only done one cross-country trip, and I don't plan on doing too many more, but I do plan on a lot of longer drives in the fits future.

I'm thinking replacing the stereo with the lane assist cam first, gauge how I feel about that, if I'm comfortable... then move into an amp, more speakers, and I bought some kilmat so perhaps door and tire well insulation.

I only mentioned cross country trips bc the Fit is terrible for wind and road roar. On shorter trips, I'm glad that I sound deadened it still.

Any luck with the JVC? I am looking at the same for my 2015 Fit. Looks like the "cheapest" way to get android auto. Looking over it, it seems you retain everything (including lane watch) save for one of the USB terminals (in the dash or center console).
