Transmission fluid
You don't.
The transmission is a sealed system. You can't check anything. You just replace the fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or so and otherwise don't worry about it.
(Well, actually you can. There are 3 plugs on the transmission. With the engine of level ground you can find the middle plug and remove it with a socket wrench and stick your finger in, then the fluid should be level with that plug. And the fluid on your finger will show you how dirty it is. For all the hassle that that involves you might as well just do a full fluid change.)

The maintenance minder will tell you. It's number 3 on Honda's schedule, so you will see something like (A3, B3, A13, B23, etc). If you want to get a better idea of Honda's maintenance schedule just look up the Honda maintenance minder codes.
Early and Often
So Ray, your Fit came with a CVT style automatic transmission. If this is the first one, you may want to know that the service intervals are a bit different than what you might be used to. In order to make these things last, the transmission fluid needs to be changed every 20 to 30,000 miles. Gone are the days where you could get away with never changing the fluid or changing it once at 150,000 miles. CVTs are much more sensitive, and without proper care will only last about 150,000 miles. Either way good luck with your Fit, we all love ours.
