XM vs Radio. Radio is Winning

This is an odd one. I've had a portable XM radio since 2009, and I move it from car to car to house. A few years ago, it would occasionally cut out while I was playing it in the car. This was totally random and not reproduceable. It would stay off for a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks. Eventually, it started giving me distorted sound, so I gave up on it. I later connected it in the house, and it's been playing flawlessly for over a year.

In the car, the XM connected by sending a signal to the standard car radio, tuned to 90.1. I thought of testing it my son's car, but I'd have to let it run for possibly months to see if it would cut out. I'm using flash drives to play recorded music now, but I would like to know what the problem was with the XM and the Fit.

Might be an obvious question, but since you noted the specific frequency - have you tried a frequency other than 90.1?

Yes, but that hasn't made any difference. At least I'm glad that I didn't throw the radio away. If I buy a new one, I would have to start paying monthly, and I'm not going to do that.
