I know that the 3rd gens are too "new" to have huge issues, but my '15 is holding up exceptionally well as in no threatening rust bubbles or perforations. Does anyone have rust issues (bubbles, perforations) on their 3rd gen? Suspension parts are rusty, but inconsequential.
Even the brake bleeder screws came loose without breaking (a first for me on a used car!). I'm obsessed with rust and it bugs me to a great degree, so I notice and look for potential corrosion problems.
I have seen plenty of rusty 3rd gens, they are not any different than the 1st or 2nd gens. No car is immune to rust. They are just newer on the timeline so you won't see it as often. But that all depends on where you live in the US.
No rust here either, but when I removed my front bumper to upgrade the horns I noticed a bit on the metal of the frame (around the front tow hook area).
I hit it and the tow hook socket with some fluid film and i'm certain it won't progress any further.
Aside from that, I wouldn't mind removing the wheel well liners and applying generous amounts to the undercarriage etc.
But that'll have to be some day in the distant future, where I have plenty of spare time and no evening school work!
I've got a little rust that's developing under the front passenger side door. I'm undecided on if it's a clogged drain or if the door is rubbing on the frame. Haven't had the time to take a deeper look into it. Either way I will have to grind down that area and repaint to get it to stop spreading.

You're in Montreal and if I remember correctly that's a heavy salt usage area.
Like everyone said on here, it depends on where you live. My 2015 Ex is a little over 8.5 yrs and no rust at all. But I am in SoCal and I don't recall any 10+ yrs old Honda I had before the Fit had any rust.

Thanks. That's exactly the information I'm looking for, future problem areas.
In the fall I did apply Fluid Film to the car, behind the wheel liners, inside the rockers (has rubber plugs all along its length) and all other areas I could get to.I didn't do the doors becasue I didn't feel like pulling off the cards but it looks like it would behoove me to do them.
When I did the FF job I noticed that the areas where the rockers end are open (behind the liners) for a bit and had some surface rust and a ton of sand and debris. Oh, if you remove the liners all of the clips will break so be ready for that. For the rears you can get away with peeling the liner back. The fronts, there's a 10mm bolt you can just pull out that little plastic guard. (pic)
Why I'm doing or worrying about all this on "just a Honda" is because it's a manual and affordable manual cars are vanishingly rare.
