Dead USB Ports
Dead USB Ports
I have tiny SanDisk flash drives in the two USB ports. Both ports are now dead. Am I the first to have this happen. Pushing the button to switch inputs does not give me the option of USB.
The port in the armrest came back to life yesterday.
I looked, and everything is connected - all original factory wiring. At least one of them is working now, so that's something.
Have you checked the USB drives in another device or tried different USB drives in your car? They don't last forever, and the sorts of vibrations and cold/heat cycles in an automobile application might increase the rate or likelihood of failure.
I have a SanDisk USB drive that we use in our multimedia setup at home which has partially failed in the past month or two. I say "partially" because it still seems to read correctly from files already on the drive but the write performance has fallen to a level that makes the drive basically unusable. Copying a 1 GB movie onto the drive from my computer takes well over an hour and the drive gets scalding hot in the process.
