Exclamation 2015 limp mode - p0341 - runs perfect

Okay so I believe I posted in here one day about my fit taking more than one push on the button to start (not the button recall, already did that two years ago and i'm not getting the error light for it on my dash). Originally I thought starter but now my brain's gears are thinking. I've been going into "limp mode" more frequently now (where the four main warning lights come on) and it keeps telling me P0341 (camshaft sensor). But as far as how the car actually drives once it's on, it's driving perfect. No hiccups/stuttering, good acceleration, excellent MPG.

So do we think this sounds like a camshaft sensor problem? I'm at 119k, I had the timing tensioner and all of that done at around 110k. I get the fuel cleanings through the intake done on it periodically and 90% of the time I'm putting top tier gas (10% is if i'm on the road and I don't know where I'm at but I need something, is very rare). I get my oil done by 20%/roughly 5k. So I feel like I do my best to take care of it. I'm just stumped and annoyed with the lights coming on. Anyone have this issue? Anyone have suggestions? Honda wanted to take the car for two days and charge $150 just to diagnose it

Any chance your cruise control doesn't work when the car is started after not running for hours? Maybe the throttle response isn't normal too?

I've had the P0341 error a few times every so often. Most of the time when I get it the lights are on for a few days and then they go out on their own. I had some valve replaced (just last week) to try and address it but It did not work. Then I had the start/stop button replaced (warranty extension on this issue) just yesterday. No idea if either will address that P0341 but its what I've done in recent days.

Haven’t noticed the cruise control thing. It usually does work. Throttle seems normal to me (I mean as normal as this tiny lil car can be)

I had the valves adjusted, tensioner replaced, plugs and chain inspected at 110k by the dealer as part of the big maintenance. they told me at that time it was fine so I mean it’s weird that within 8K miles it would be timing.

taking it to a local shop to inspect my timing chain/components and test the sensors. If it’s super serious I’ll be going to the dealership that did the above mentioned. I’m just praying it’s a sensor or something stupid and nothing major like timing.

My 2015 is experiencing similar issues. Last month, all 4 lights came on and OBD showed code P0341. I checked my oil and it was low; my mechanic confirmed this and replaced the valve cover. He said the code was likely due to low oil level. One month and 1700 miles later, warning lights and P0341 came back after starting the car on a very cold (16F) night this past Friday. Car seemed to be driving fine -- throttle response felt slightly off, but that might have been my own paranoia.

I brought the car in today fearing the worst. People all over this forum and Reddit with P0341 have needed timing chain work. Mechanic told me the code showed an open circuit for the sensor, so he believes my issue is actually the sensor (quoted me $300) vs. timing chain. I told him I'm still concerned about the timing chain. I don't want to spend $300 just to end up needing a new chain and dropping $2k or whatever that costs -- if it comes to that, I'd strongly consider selling the car.

Question about your tensioner job -- what'd it cost? I'm calling my guy back tomorrow and might ask him about replacing the tensioner, but can't find solid info on how much work it is, and I lack knowledge of engines.

Guess I owe it to yall to update this.

first I will say I don’t remember how much that job costs as it was part of my 105k maint. That was about $1200 (along with adjustment, water pump, plugs)

but I regret to inform everyone it was my timing chain being worn prematurely due to the VTC actuator. Honda supposedly updated the part so I’m praying the new one won’t cause issues down the road. Sadly a new chain, actuator, guides ran me $2000. Been over 150 miles since and no warning lights and no death rattle at startup.

im getting my pesky p0420 but I tend to get that one when the car isn’t driven much (which, it wasn’t because it was sitting for a week and a half to get work done) so I’m sure when I put good gas in it and drive the hell out of it on the highway it’ll work that out.

long story short: don’t ignore the actuator rattle

Thanks for the update. Shoot, that’s rough. I’ve got a bad feeling I’m headed toward timing chain replacement. And of course my car didn’t start its death rattle till I was out of warranty.

Sorry to hear about your VTC repair. Nobody wants to have to pay that out of pocket.

But if you're still getting p0420, that means raw fuel is being dumped into the cat. I'm wondering if your injectors are fouled.

There is an extended warranty to 150K in place for all 2015 and some 2016 models. I had mine replaced at 88K under warranty. Here's the info, and you can contact Honda corporate for more details:

I wanted to throw in my 2 cents here because there are only a couple of threads on this P0341 issue that has happened to a couple of people.

I'm on the higher end of the mileage with 187k on my motor and this car has been pretty great so far, but I got the 'whole four warning lights' pop up randomly just a couple weeks back. Nothing else really seemed to be out of the ordinary with the car aside from that.

I am lucky in that I have a lifetime powertrain warranty that I got from the dealership I bought it from - so I decided to take it into the dealer. Sure enough it had nothing to do with the actual camshaft position sensor, it was the VTC actuator.

I asked Honda about that horrible rattle that happened at every start up since the day I bought the car and the guys at Honda assured me that it wasn't going to cause any issues. Guess that was an outright lie since the new revised model that they put in to my car doesn't have any rattle when starting cold - FINALLY SILENCE and no more codes.

Things replaced: VTC Actuator, timing chain, timing chain guides, and timing chain tensioner.

Anyways - total cost if I had to pay for it out of pocket was $2300, so sorry for the bad news on that one.

They also tried to tell me that my clutch pedal has "vibrations" and needs a clutch, flywheel resurface, and pressure plate. I highly doubt that, the clutch take up springs have been rattling for about 5 years now if you don't start off correctly.
