Soft or just worn engine mounts (manual car)
Soft or just worn engine mounts (manual car)
I have a manual '15 (61,000 miles) and it seems to be awfully sensitive to engine movements unless the shifting, or more accurately clutch action, is executed absolutely perfectly. I don't have the benefit of have purchased it new, so maybe this is normal, and it's designed in an attempt to soften the driving experience.
Are engine mounts a known problem area?

Can you describe what you mean by "sensitive to engine movements"?
Are you saying that if you execute an aggressive shift/clutch drop the engine moves? How do you know if you're driving? Or, are you saying that unless you shift very smoothly there is a problem with shifting? Those issues might indicate different problems.
In general, if the engine is moving around in the engine bay, either with increased rpm or I suppose with abrupt shifts, you probably have worn engine mounts. I think there's also a transmission mount that can wear over time, so maybe that plays into whatever you're feeling.

No, just normal old man driving style. I remember "back in the day" the experience was different with no slop, or so it seems. My :93 Sentra for example is closing in on 400,000 miles on the original mounts and is as tight as can be .
Replace the clutch master cylinder with one from an EM1 civic.... It will solve the issue of the cdv.... And replace the slave cylinder and charge the rubber line for a steel braided one.... Since you're in there...
