Do I need to cut bump stops?

Hi from the UK.

I am planning to install RS-R Super Down Sus springs on my GK5 Sport, the drop is listed at 0.8in front, 1.0in rear, do I need to cut the bump stops & if so by how much?

I have 195/55 x16 tyres on OEM 6j sport wheels with 25mm rear spacers, none on the front.

No. You never cut the bump stops. Nor have I even heard of this for just installing some lowering springs.

Thank you for your reply, I am a little surprised as I have read many posts on here where people have cut bump stops between one & one and half inches hence my question.

I have never read that before. Here or anywhere else.

I also believe the Eibach Pro kit comes with shorter rear bump stops.

If you drive hard enough to corner and load the suspension to where it rides on the bump stops, the spring rate essentially goes to infinite and you're in for a bad time when you transfer on/off the throttle. Not sure this is really applicable for street, but to be safe, when lowering significantly the bump stops should be changed with appropriate height and durometer rating. For the race track it is essential.

Thank you, the springs will be maximum 1 inch drop so I guess for normal street driving and usually max 2 people in the car, I should be OK to leave as is.
