Headers

Hi all I own a 2017 Honda EX manual. I've been debating getting the unequal fabrications headers and an HPS air intake. Would anyone know if it would have any long term negative effects on the car and even more, would it be worth it? And lastly, does anyone have any personal anecdotes if they've purchased them.

If your state has mandatory car emission testing an aftermarket header may negatively affect your emission test result.

Best you can do at the very least get an aftermarket muffler. Borla, Magnaflow, or Flowmaster. Maybe even a cat back system with an aftermarket muffler.

As far as an air intake, yeah they look pretty and scream performance. But in reality an air intake is nothing more than a power robbing item.

Just replace the stock air filter to a K&N Air Filter.

GK's don't have "headers". They use what is called a down-pipe.

I have never heard of that company so I don't know what kind of actual power gains would be made.

Correct me if I'm wrong
Headers normally attach directly to the cylinder head or heads, and evacuate exhaust gasses from the cylinder head into the exhaust system. Or since it's the full length header does it take the spot of what normally would be the "downpipe"?

Had to go do some research and your right it'd be a downpipe "headers" and then the midpipe/ b pipe.

A header generally has multiple runners. A downpipe generally has one.

With the integrated exhaust manifold on the GK's L15B1, most exhaust sections that replace the primary cat are pretty much glorified downpipes. The only catch-22/gray area is the unequal length option that Unequal Fabrication has for sure on the GE and possibly for the GK as he (one man show) does insert a block off plate/tab to separate cylinders 1 & 2 from 3 & 4. From that block off plate/tab to the collector in the exhaust, there are of course two separate length exhaust pipes present.

The exhaust and other components from Unequal Fabrication are generally made to order. Going from the unequal length header and two high flow cats I've acquired from him for other Fit projects, I'm pleased with the quality. Just again, he's a one man show so you'll have some lead time before your order is made and shipped.
