Hi all! I've got a 2019 Fit EX, and a few nights ago somebody sideswiped me and cracked the mirror and damaged the assembly. The person wants to make it right and pay for the damages, and he said he would rather pay out of pocket than deal with insurance, which sounded fine to me. However, I took it to the dealership and they quoted me $1,139 for a new mirror and assembly. That seems insanely high and I really don't want to ask the guy to pay that (at that point, going through insurance would probably be the better move). Does that sound right to you all, or should I keep shopping for a better quote? The car is black, if that matters. Thanks!

 

1. Have you considered going to a scrapyard for a used side mirror assembly?

or ebay? I got rear headrests for my GK from there (they were "lost" by the previous owner??).

Assuming this is the driver's side mirror, not the "lane view" mirror?

 

It's not high. A friend had their 2019 mirror - with the Lane Watch - destroyed, and an independent mechanic replaced it for around $1200.
