Question Paddle shifter / Rev limiter?

On my '20 EX today, at about 50mph, I accidentally hit the downshift paddle. twice. didn't check the revs, just popped the shifter into neutral for a moment, then back into drive. Revs zipped up, then quickly down to under 2k. After that, car went back to running fine. Will the downshift paddle work if clicking it brings the revs too high? Thanks.

Don’t worry, the downshift pad will not allow you to over rev the engine.

All its doing is bumping the torque setting for the shiv(Pulley) control, normally the CVT will fight back and not do bad things.. It likely does wear on the pulleys and belt a little..
