2016 Honda Fit Starting Problem: Not the battery
Hi All,
This is my first post here. Glad I found this forum.
This morning I helped a friend replace the battery on a 2016 Honda Fit. The car has not been running since late Fall 2024; I was told it just wouldn't start after a light was left on. Before replacing the battery, I attempted to jump the car and left it on a 2 amp charge for ~24 hours, but no luck. The car still won't start post battery change. No click, no lights. I did clean off the leads with a battery terminal brush. There was some corrosion, more on the positive lead. It's a push button start, and the car is in Park. It's like the electrical circuit is not complete. The new battery is reading 12.5 volts with the multimeter, so it has charge. (I didn't test the original battery voltage with the multimeter, which was an oversight). The battery leads seem securely attached. Any thoughts on what else to check before my friend has the car towed to a mechanic? TIA

Dreaded Push Button Start Recall.
You may have the Push Button start recall.
Push Button start Fits began having starting issues about three years ago.
There's a Honda Recall that had all Honda Dealers replace the Push Button circuit board for no charge.
Of this is the case,
Go to your local Honda Dealer to get the Push start Button circuit board replaced for Free. No charge.
