Immobilizer Warning

The immobilizer icon has been lit on my 2015 Fit for a couple of days, although the car has not been immobilized. Have any of you had that happen?

This happens when the contact inside the start stop button start to get dirty. Eventually it may take a few button presses before the car starts. It happens to me every few years and I open up and clean the contacts and it fixes it.
This video shows how to remove it and also how to clean it.

Thanks for that. I'll save it. You'd think removing that button could be easier. 😳

Yes but keep in mind car companies are only interested in making car assembly on the production line easy and cheap. They have no interest whatsoever in disassembly or simplifying replacement of anything.

Videos like this remind me of how thankful I am to have the basic key start LX and to have avoided all the push-button problems the Fit models have.

And dealers like it when it takes two hours to change a lightbulb.
