cannot connect phone through HDMI

Hello I have a 2016 fit lx and am having trouble connecting my phone through the hdmi cable. The cable is a brand new 4k cable i bought off amazon. when I connect my phone the screen remains black with no sound. when I connect my wifes phone it shows my wifes phone on half of the screen and the other have is black. it gives an error message that you can only see the first 2 words and any app i open on the phone doesnt show on the screen.
I am not sure if any app is needed to be installed for it to work.

Has anyone else had these problems or know how to get it working?

I also have not been able to connect my phone to the Fit. From Googling, it requires the older HondaLink Connect App, not the newer App. If you are able to make it work, please report back.

Im guessing this is a common problem. Im wondering if it's because there are some phones already set up on this device previous to myself having the vehicle.

I tried hooking up my firestick to the hdmi and mirrored my phone through the fire stick and it worked. I rather directly plug in my phone but this is better then nothing. Now I have to figure out a way to keep the screen on while driving without having to go into the menus every time.
This is the link I used to help me

If someone figures out a better way to do this please let me know.

Touch Screen.

The touch screen was never built to watch videos while driving.

Besides,

Why would you put your safety at risk?

You can use your phone GPS via Bluetooth on your touch screen. Mine works perfectly.

Phone To Car.

You have to sync your phone to the car screen via Bluetooth.

Fit Screen.

The Fit screen isn't designed to play videos for safety reasons.

Gps

Just use your phone as your GPS.

Forget about using the Fit screen for a GPS.
