2020 Fit LX with 60k mi, bought salvaged (repaired) at 16k mi.
Went to change trans fluid today and it drained red fluid - not the yellow of Honda's required CVT fluid. I'm assuming salvage repair guys did it.
This is bad, right? But like, how bad? It's been in there for the past 45k miles, and looked pretty good other than being the wrong color.
Is it bad like sell the car because the trans will fail early? Or bad like just swap out the rest of the fluid a couple more times until it's all Honda fluid and it'll be fine?

This. You don't know what it is so best to get rid of it. You're about due for a change anyways. There are third party fluids which are supposedly equivalent to the Honda stuff but who knows and Honda always says use genuine Honda CVT fluid only. I won't go as far as saying you'll be fine no matter what you do because you don't know what was put in.
Take a look at the fluid when you drain it to see if any metallic particles show up. It will be somewhat dirty and that's normal.
I just did my CVT fluid last week and I can’t re what came out of the bottle…. I have 200ML left over, I might as well go pour it out to confirm.
What came out of the trans was kind of dark. I only have 55k on the car and just bought it last month. Showed as being dealer serviced its entire life with no trans service.

Thanks. There was some metal sludge on the drain bolt, but nothing of any significance. I'll do another couple of fluid cycles.
