lx 6 speed at ~203,000k miles
... 0 issues, (unless you count cleaning the MAF sensor from time to time because road salt):
regular changes with mobile1 full synth blend (advanced fuel economy randomly but, more or less, sticking to "high mileage") full synth 0w20 (including oil filter (mobile1 or fram or k&n)) every 4-6k miles.
air filter changes every 10-20k miles (depending on season and dust).
checked dipstick every 2-3 cranks.
changed spark plugs at 96k and at 196k miles (NGK laser iridium).
changed all coil packs at 196k miles (hitachi).
only 90+ octane (maybe once or twice on 88 out of necessity).
Congratulations and glad to hear the car has been good to you.
Out of curiosity, what does "cleaning the MAF sensor from time to time because road salt" mean? How would road salt get past the engine air filter to interact with the MAF sensor?
what does "cleaning the MAF sensor from time to time because road salt" mean?
no idea. i change the air filter every 10k-20k miles (or with the change of winter to spring). I've really only had to clean the MAF once (time-to-time was superfluous speech on my part, apologies). At ~180k miles, after several east coast winters, bits of the road treatment solution seem to have made it past the stock airbox. i think it was one of the few times i've been behind a caravan of cars kicking up the fine dust of the de-icing solution while climbing through steep road passes in appalachia. maybe some combination of high rpm and saturated air either way, the time i needed to clean it i noticed that the road treatment solution?salt?spray? was making it's way past the cabin filter as well.. it was pretty awful.
there's a bit of rust on the edges of surfaces that are directly exposed; but most of the painted surfaces appear to be holding back the elements well.
