Caution - Paint Issues

Yesterday my dealer was delivered 3 Silver, 2 Black, and one Red Fit. They started the PDI on them last night so I went to the dealer this morning hoping to pick mine up. The black and red fits were delivered by Honda with dents, scratches, and paint issues. They were delivered unwrapped so they must have been the ones that were pulled after being delivered the first time. Dealer was up front and wasn't about to try to sell me one with issues, they are sending them back to Honda to deal with. More waiting

Might want to really inspect your cars before taking delivery!

Uh that is most disappointing to hear. Did you get to see and inspect the cars? I am wondering if the dents and scratches looked more like transport damage or manufacturing defects?

That really sucks. I went over there as soon as they got mine in and I could see where they peeled off the protective stickers on them (dusty lines, followed by nice clean red) so I think from that I can deduce that mine had the protective wrap on it.

Other than some micro-scratches from driving around in dusty road my paint job is pretty nice. Any idea what vin # range those were?

Very disappointing but I guess I'll be patient. I did get to see them all and one of the black ones had a very noticeable dent on the top of the front passenger door and the others had dirt baked into the paint and minor scratches. Must be because they unwrapped them and then took them back to the port. They probably sat in a dirty parking lot in the sun. I'm not buying one unless it's delivered wrapped up from the factory. The silvers looked perfect but I just couldn't do it.

I didn't look at the VINs on the cars but according to the dealers website they are in the high 3000 range.

Awesome! How does Modern Steel look on your Fit? I almost got that color for the Accord.

I'm curious to know exactly what kind of "paint issues" you saw.

Is there something specific I should be looking for when I inspect a new Fit?

Dirt and water spots that they couldn't buff out. They made Honda come and look at it late last night and refused delivery so you know it can't be good. They want to sell cars.

Mine had pretty bad water spots on the paint and glass. I was told to bring it in for an exterior detail (dealer covered of course). Dropped it off this morning and picked it up today showroom perfect.

What is your VIN? And what date does it say that your car was built on the tag inside the drivers door?

The three fits at my local dealer look like they have been sitting for months. Vin in the 3000's. Nothing a good detail couldn't fix.

Except sun damage and oxidation on the paint and salt air corrosion if they were stored near the port.

Well, I guess we know why they were delayed... I really thought there'd be sufficient Japanese quality control representatives to eliminate any problems.....

Just so that people do not get any wrong impressions.

Rust on Brake rotors is normal and not an indication of any kind of defect or subpar part. Rust on a painted hinge is not normal, but was it really rust or dirt that sticks to a newly lubricated hinge?
