Tirerack Updated Wheel Section for 2015 Fits
Tirerack Updated Wheel Section for 2015 Fits
The title speaks for itself. I have been CONSTANTLY looking. So there you have it.
Almost placed an order for 15" Enkei's and 185/60R15 General AltiMAX RT43. I just have one inquiry I'm waiting on about some 14" Kosei K1 TS wheels that look like a perfect fit. Man....I hope it fits. The Kosie's are only 9.3lbs. Can't find anything really lighter except 14" Volk CE28N (6.3lbs a piece) that no-one can seem to say if it'll fit or not. They cost way to much anyways.

You got me beat by a mile.
My 16" Enkei's with the installed Kumho PA31 tires weigh in at 35 lbs. apiece
Your set-up (9.3 lbs. Enkei + 17 lbs. Tire) totals 26.3 lbs.
I'll be driving w/ approx. 35 lbs. more of unsprung weight.

Its about time TireRack posted availability for the GK.

I really want the 14X6 Kosei.. Waiting on Tirerack to give me a call back and say it's a go. The tires are 15lbs a piece (H rated ones. V rated are 16lbs). Close enough!

I wanted to go with 185/60-14's to bring the outside diameter in more with the lighter tires but ride quality may have been affected to severly. Also, wanted to have an affect on power like an undersized pulley would have on the crankshaft. I'm not concerned about the speedometer being off (reading 4.8% higher than stock). I ride like this in my RAV4.
Needless to say, I went with the size you stated against my own will....185/70-14.
BTW: Tirerack confirmed the 14X6 Kosei's will fit the 2015 Honda Fit. They will be updating their database with this info in the upcoming days (Thanks Tucker at Tirerack). I've ordered them and can't wait.
You can get them in silver or gray. I'll be weighing before installation and weighing the stockers (when I get a Fit).

I have purchased tires from Tirerack and been very happy with their service, BUT a little while ago I was looking at just buying new tires that offer a more comfortable ride.
I put Yokohama Avids on my 2012 Fit and they improved the handling and made the car much quitter. Big improvement for a few hundred bucks.
When I looked for tires for the 2015 Fit I compared Tirerack prices to the cost of the same tires at Walmart. Walmart was less expensive, even when including California sales tax and fees vs Tireracks shipping costs.
I was surprised that Walmart had the same tires for less. It plays to do comparison shopping.

Man...if they get into the wheel business...it's a wrap.
) would be annoyed. I even noticed a difference going to 205/55/15 and that's not even that much shorter than stock.On your RAV4 I suspect it wouldn't be as bad... I did not check the ratios but i'm pretty sure they're much longer than the Fit and would be more livable day to day.
I checked 195/65/14 and there were no good tires. 195/60/14 has some good choices but even that is a bit too short. 185/70/14 had the best selection I found and kept the tire diameter closest to stock. Glad you found something you liked in that size.
On the Fit, it wouldn't be the speedometer i'd be concerned about, it'd be the huge change to effective final drive. 4.5% change is HUGE, cruising RPM would be way higher, and each gear would be noticeably shorter. For track days or fun driving it'd probably be a hoot, but for daily driving even I (someone who doesn't mind this sort of thing

Here's how -->
The Fit has 130hp vs my RAV4's 269hp. So let's say the Fit makes about 48% the power of the RAV4.
When I did my lightweight wheel experiment on the RAV4 the end result was 9lbs weight savings on the tires and 18lbs weight savings on the wheel.
Since the Fit makes 48% the horsepower of my RAV4, I'm going to shoot for 48% the weight savings in the wheels if possible.
In other words, 48% of 9lbs is 4lbs and 48% of 18lbs is 8.1lbs. So, I'm shooting to reduce my wheel and tire weight by 48% off from stock. 4lbs less from the tires and 8lbs less from the wheel. I'm no mathematician or physicist but it's just how my silly thinking works. Not saying it's achievable but may as well try.
The Kosei's are 9.3lbs a piece. So if the stock wheel is 17lbs or more, goal achieved. {48% weight reduction}
The General Altimax tires are 15lbs a piece so if the stock tires are 30lbs or more, then goal achieved but this is not doable.
I'm thinking for the stock LX wheels to be 35-36lbs a piece is not too far off...I hope anyways. I know the EX and EX-L wheel/tire combos should be even heavier.
I actually had my tires for the Fit changed back to 185/60-14 after posting. My gut feeling told me to stick with my initial plan on this. I'm just crazy and may do things a little different than a lot of folks. I like going against the grain. Tirerack do not recommend this and neither do I. This is only being done for my sick purpose. I just need a Fit to test it out on now. I can always change it later if I don't like it.
There's many reasons why I'm doing this. It's better for me to post results rather than talk about it though. I've never been one to talk but show. Until then......

Interesting that you are going for 14s for a decrease in weight. I'm also usually swimming against the common wisdom because I prefer tires with taller sidewalls for better ride and rock/curb damage resistance. I also like a larger diameter tire for a slightly taller gear ratio.
On my Scion the stock tires are 185/60R15 and I ended up with 195/65R15s that just barely fit with the stock height suspension. That gives me about 2" greater tire diameter.
It will be interesting to see what sizes will work on the Fit. At least I don't have to fiddle around with TPMS sensors!

Will be watching your future posts for ongoing results. Premise is sound. Am very curious to see if your strategy will help you achieve the objective set.
