I keep scanning the local dealer websites for availability of the FIT (EX-L) in white but nothing so far. Have they delivered any white ones in the States so far?

Cars.com is loaded with vaporware cars that will be delivered to the dealer Real Soon Now.

I see several white Fits listed near me but all my inquiries have yielded are boilerplate replies that the cars "will be delivered soon." They'd sure like me to come in and see what they have on the lot, though!

This is bait and switch in my book.

 

I just spoke with my dealer about this issue and got a little more insight (at least for the Northeast). Apparently what's happening is that most of these cars are at one of the ports in the US awaiting inspection and then loading onto a truck for dealer delivery, but for whatever reason, Honda, not the dealer, is reporting them as in dealer inventory. He said he had talked to a manager at the port processing facility and verified that the cars are on the ground there but Honda is taking their time inspecting and releasing them. He said they were becoming frustrated because even Honda's locating system (to facilitate dealer swaps, etc) was erroneously reporting cars as being delivered and in inventory even though they were not physically present.

Now whether or not a dealer reports to cars.com automatically from this system, I'm not sure. But that may be the cause of many of these vaporware cars. The difference between dealers is when you contact them about the car the unscrupulous ones will say "oh any day now" or "it's here now" (and then tell you it's just been sold when you show up to test drive), while the honest ones will flat out tell you "we don't know when it will be here, Honda is being a little cagey with dates."

 

Norm reeves in Cerritos has 2 whites in stock, 1 manual LX(!) and 1 EX-L, test drove the manual yesterday, not sure if I want the white or blue though.

 

I read that Norm Reeves in Cerritos has really good reviews(Yelp/Google +). How's your experience with them? My friend knows a sales rep that works there. I hope I can get in contact w/ him. I contacted bunch of dealers already for a week but I've been dealing w/ jerks that don't reply. *le sigh*

I think the blue looks fabulous! But I have my heart settled on the white.

 

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised at Norm Reeves, the two people I dealt with were nice and friendly, even after I told them upfront that I would not be buying today. I'm also young (22) and was worried they wouldn't treat me as a serious customer, but the saleswoman (Kendra) answered all my questions and didn't rush me. I would definitely go back when I'm ready to buy. You should call them and schedule a test drive. Looks like Culver
