2015 Honda Fit Recall

Just a heads up for any current owners. I just got a call from the Dealer said I need to set up an appointment to have an inspection. Honda has issued a recall for some interior trim that can effect the deployment of the side curtain airbag.

Better safe than sorry!

Hey, at least they are proactive and not like GM was with our cobalt and issue a recall 10 years after the fact!
Thanks Amy!

Thanks Amy!
I concur! I don't mind a company trying to make my ride as safe as possible.

My car was in Wednesday for an illuminated passenger airbag light even when occupied. I hope they looked at this then.

Wonder if this will further delay my car's arrival along with the other folks waiting... Guess it's a trade off to wait while they fix it before vs after your purchase...

If there is a recall, the dealership will address it during PDI. It should not further delay dealerships getting their allotments.

Saw this posted on techinfo. It's for the A-pillar trim. In certain VINs (the list is not posted), the trim for the non-side-curtain airbag model was installed (I don't think you can even get this model in the US). The issue is that if the curtains were to deploy, the wrong trim wouldn't break away as designed possibly pinching the airbag. You can actually tell just by looking at the trim if you are affected or not. The correct trim has "Side Curtain Airbag" imprinted on it. The incorrect trim has nothing imprinted on it. The fix is just swapping the trim out.

Mine has it imprinted also. They must have issued a pretty sweeping VIN range to require inspections, just in case.

That makes sense considering step one of the recall procedure was to have the dealer just visually inspect the trim for the imprint... and better safe than sorry.

Should it be on both the front and rear door trim? The rears say side airbag the front doesn't.

Sounds like you will want to take yours to get inspected, ASAP. My front pillars have the imprint.

Mine has that printed on the side of the seat, but not on the pillar.

It's only for certain VINs, so your Fit might not be affected.

Just checked ours, and all four of ours have it stamped on it.

So I think if all four of your doors do not, you need to take it in.

I'll try calling my dealer and see if I don't need to come in, if that visual inspection can be enough.

We did receive the automated recall email.

I called to see if mine was under the bumper recall and they said no, but it was under the A pillar recall. They did not contact me, I had to call them, and only by accident found out about it.
