Ignition-Switched Power

Aside form the 12 volt outlet, where can I tap in to get 12 volts that's on only when the ign is turned on?

Or, how can I tap into the wire for the 12 volt outlet?

When I was taking out the driver side cover to install the interior illumination kit, there was a green and red wire spliced to it to a plug that seemed to serve no purpose. My voltmeter indicates it has a 12V running in it so you could probably use that to power a couple USB or other purposes.

Thanks. Where is that "driver's side cover"? I removed the panel with the 12v and HDMI outlets and can tap into the 12v outlet wire.

I wonder what that unattached wire is for.

I'd also like to make use of those blank switch locations to the left of the driver - by the traction control button.

I have a recent post with pictures.

Oh that's what I mean, the cover where the econ button and traction buttons are. There's a leftover plug with the wires I mentioned in basically a perfect location for those that wanna set up an extra USB slot for charging phones etc.

Interesting. I'll take a look at that.
