Oil Light (Blue)

Weird thing happened today where I started my car and the oil light was on (but blue).

It was on for probably 1 minute once from when I started it to when driving for a little.

The car was parked for the work day 9am to 6pm.

I looked at the manual and I believe it was a notification for the oil temp being too cool? Anyone ever experience or know of anyone?

It was probably the coolant indicator that glows blue until the engine warms up a bit (approximately 1-4 minutes depending and temperature and the engine load). Oil light should be red. Do not worry. Pay close attention though.

Yes it is the coolant light indicating it is not to temp yet.

Weird I live in LA and it's pretty warm (but car was parked in a parking garage)

Do I have to wait until it's off to drive? Is this notification new. Never really seen this on my older cars.

First I have ever seen it on a car. I never wait, it goes off within a minute. May be different come this winter in Ohio.

Honda has been using the blue coolant temp indicator for a few years now. First one I remember was on the then new 2007 Fit. It saves gauge cluster space by not having a germinate coolane gauge on the dash and is less prone to failure.
The gauge indicates the engine is not at optimal operating temperature yet.
You can drive the car with it lit just take it easy until the light goes off.

The light goes off when the coolant gets to 53 deg C or 127 deg F, that's when Honda deems it warm enough.

Mine has been on every morning when I start it, and I live in south Florida. I've only had the car since Sunday though. The first day I waited maybe 30 seconds and it turned off. The other two day I didn't think about it and it went off before I was out of the driveway.

If it is calibrated to go off at 127F, I'm assuming it will be on for a few seconds anytime the car has sat for a long period of time.

You can look this (and many more things about your car) up in the book that came with your Fit!

Same here, even after sitting in the 95 degree Texas sun. Takes 45 seconds to a minute to turn off.

I get this often when i start up on my 09 fit sport. I dont think its an issue. I would check in your manual.. But i believe its just you telling you the engine is cold. Also it may be that your oil is going to be do for a change soon. I know mine is about due.

hope i helped a bit

Again the light is only a cold engine temp (cars coolant not up to operating temp) . It will turn on every time you start the car after allowed to cool off for a wile. Light will come on until the engine comes up to operating temp. Generally anything from +-30 seconds to 2 minutes.

Same experience with my car. I wouldn't worry. Just drive normally. I would avoid flooring it and revving it past 5.5k rpm until the light is off and the oil is at an optimal temperature.

That blurry picture makes it look like a sailboat on the water.

Same here. Even on relatively hot days in Texas.
