A random speculation:

Is it possible that they are reworking the stockpiled cars at the factory before they are shipped? It may be that some or many of the early VINs have actually been reworked.

I am thinking that is exactly what happened. That explains why in early July some high VIN cars and lower VIN cars were simulatiniously Arriving at dealers.

That even applies now. One local dealer who seems to be pretty good about putting actual inventory on their web site is listing the following VINs:

12533 LX MAN
15440 LX CVT
07653 LX CVT
15179 EX MAN
18121 EX MAN
14072 EX MAN
17613 EX MAN
12367 EX CVT
15884 EX-L
15360 EX-L

That's a mighty broad range considering how little time these cars spend at the dealer. They must have had acres and acres of cars stored at Celaya.

Here's an article about Honda's distribution plans from Celaya:

My VIN ends in 00439 and the date printed inside the car door says 02/14.

So does that mean I have one of the very early ones? I only purchased it 7/20 and the dealer only received it the day before.

It definitely is a initial run but as some of these guys have said it could be it may have already been updated. We should all know next month.
