TPMS...How to reset...
TPMS...How to reset...
...howdy...in my 2010 if my tires were changed or the pressure was changed, you drove for a few minutes and the system reset itself...
My light went on the other day, so I added air...light stayed one....then I fixed it using a gauge so the amounts were exact....light stayed on.
Went to dealer...the new ones are different then the older ones...there is a good sized reset button to the left and under the steering wheel.
You hold it in until the light blinks then let go and the light will go off.
There are also no longer sensors in the wheels!!! Yippie for those of us that run snows!!!

i asked my salesman about this yesterday, he had no idea.
GK's do not have the cast aluminum block sensors in the valve stem locations. we have what looks to be nearly normal valvestems. i will poke around the parts fiche and see if i can figure out where the sensors are.
*edit* looks like normal valvestems. yay! bring on the snows...

perhaps it is the old style bmw circumference style sensor?

From the owner's manual:
Instead of directly measuring the pressure in each tire, the TPMS on this vehicle
monitors and compares the rolling radius and rotational characteristics of each
wheel and tire while you are driving to determine if one or more tires are
significantly under-inflated.

On the lower left, hidden from normal view, is a button with the tpms symbol on it. Turn the ignition on and hold the button in. It will reset. (Honda deale rwalked me through it over the phone. They had to check to see how to do it also)
Several other manufacturers have used similar systems from time to time—GM, BMW apparently, I think Toyota....
There is no pressure sensor. The car uses wheel speed/position sensors (presumably the same ones used by the ABS and traction control systems) and figures indirectly when a tire has lower pressure than expected based upon it being a bit smaller diameter and hence turning a bit faster than it otherwise would.

Ding! Ding! Ding!! Ginea this man a prize!!!
Only downside to the system is it only works across an axle, meaning if you simultaneously lose air at the same rate from say both front tires, the light will not trigger (no rotational delta between the two front wheels). This might happen as your car loses air over time. Just a note, don't rely on the TPMS to tell you when your tire pressure is low overall, you should be checking your pressure a few times a year regardless.
On another note, I cant get the stupid light to stay off. 5th time it's gone off now and I have the correct tire pressure.
