6MT clutch and shift placement
6MT clutch and shift placement
So,
I have longer arms and legs, compared to my wife.
yesterday i had her drive the Fit; as actually I've plan to have her drive it as the daily. She has driven plenty of manuals so I didn't think it would matter.
I realized the ergonomics of the driver seat, in relation to the shift knob may not be for everyone...
I don't know why i didn't realize this before, but I guess it may take some time to get use to or realize. The way the steering wheel in relations to how the seat is, to seat comfortably, means that she is almost shifting with her fingers, in stead of holding the shift knob. its a long reach,
but if she put the seat forward, her ankle to clutch angle is really off, like the clutch pedal is really high up and angled high.
has anyone else have the feeling also?

The GE is equally awkward so I get what you mean. I had to get an extension so I didn't have to angle my arm down to reach the knob. My arm is fully extended to reach 5th but I don't have to move my body or shoulder at all. It's much better now. You'd think the extension would make it worse but it's more of an arm angle issue than a reach issue, for me at least. I'm tall with long arms too.
I've been meaning to get a short shifter to make up for the added throw and put it closer to stock, but I haven't yet and have gotten used to it anyway. I still might get one later, I dunno, I don't really need it but it'd probably be much better.
