New 15 Alabaster Silver.....paint issues

Just got my new for this week. When I got her home after a few days I decided to giver her a good wash and wax. Wow........that's all I can say. The paint is horrible. There are spots all over the car where the paint ran and not to mention hazy places where there is a clear lack of clear coat. Still waiting on Airport Honda in Knoxville, TN to give me a call back to see if we can get this resolved. I don't expect second to none quality on a 19,000 dollar car. I do expect there to be clear coat over the paint on the entire car!!!!!! This is my 3rd Honda and may be my last if this can't be resolved.

15 Honda Fit paint quality

Here's a video. Watch the distortion in the light reflection.

I left two messages with two managers today. Never got a call back. This is going to get interesting.

With my daughter going to school at UT Knoxville, we considered using Airport Honda due to their strong ratings, and their proximity to the school. We ended up going to a different dealership in Tennessee for our purchase, but are still considering using Airport Honda for service. We will be watching closely how they handle this issue before we make any decisions. I am so sorry your having this problem. I would be climbing the walls if this had happened to my daughter.

So I take it there was no indication of the problem when you took delivery of the car?

I live 100 miles away and bought my first car from them while I was at UT. I thought since the 1st time went so smooth I would give them my business. So I bought the fit on a Saturday but had to wait on them to find an ex-l. I got a text Monday saying my car had arrived. I head to Knoxville on Tuesday and arrived at 5pm. I had to wait almost 2 hours to sign papers. At the time I was livid. It was getting a tad dark outside and me being pissed I just wanted to get home so we left. I decided to wash the car Wednesday because their idea of detailing was horrible. The car had waterspots and dirt everywhere. There was also still adhesive all over the car and the wheels. After the wash I discovered terrible spots all over the paint as well as The stains on the headliner. I contacted my salesman and sent pictures.......I was offered a free detail. I called twice today and left messages with two different managers and never received a call back. I will be filing a complaint with Honda on Monday. I would take my business elsewhere. The car will need significant paint work done as well as a New headliner. There is also a spot on the passenger seat where the leather somehow got wet and is very rough and wrinkled up.

Can you tell if the car originated with that dealer or if it was transferred from another dealer (dealer trade)? Not that it matters, as they should have delivered the car in pristine condition, the information is on the window sticker itself. I hate dealer trades myself, as the chain of "ownership" seems to diminish the selling dealers sense of responsibility. Nice that they offered you a free detail (I think that is called "Dealer Prep", and is normally included in all sales).

As stated, we will be monitoring the issue and will base our decisions on where to take our daughters Honda Fit for service, based on how they handle this for you. We are lucky here in Nashville to have no less than 4 Honda dealerships, not to mention another alternative in Knoxville, and another in your area of Johnson City, all available as options. Airport Honda, with the strong ratings they have, and proximity to UT, had been our first choice.

Funny, when we purchased our Fit, even with all those options closer to my daughters location, we ended up near Memphis, the opposite direction, to buy the car itself.

Sorry to hear about your paint issues. In fact, I just submitted a post regarding a blemish in my Milano Red Fit. I'm quite honestly disgusted over it. I was going to wash & detail the car today, but I lost all interest. I even took the newly purchased wax back to Auto Zone. And I also experienced a horrible detail job from my dealership. They had 5 days to prep the car, but it had adhesive left all over it, dirty finger prints on the dash, I had to vacuum and wash the car. Everyone today seems to just be into quick money and once they get your cash, they don't really care.

Wow, sorry to hear especially about the interior. Was it a demo car or have many miles on it before purchase? How did you find the pits in the clearcoat in the first place? I gave my silver LT a wash and wax the first week and I didn't notice any pits unless there are bumps in the paint.

It was a dealer trade, however there was clearly no attempt at making sure the the car was in the condition to give to a buyer.

It was not a demo car. I noticed the paint after I washed and pulled it into the garage under the flaurescent lights.

Per other threads and posters who have been in contact with them, it's the real deal.

I have been dealing with Jonathan for several weeks, regarding our defective screen, which shows rear view when it should be showing lane watch, or just going blank. He is the real deal, and is a very helpful fellow who handles all the details between us and the dealer. All we need to do is show up, and he handles the rest.

His user name HondaCustSvc, combined with the Honda logo, say's it all. I can understand your initial skepticism however, as we all have been conditioned since birth, not to expect this level of customer service from an automobile company.

I've actually posted on Honda Facebook page a while earlier telling them about people reporting early issues with the '15 Fit and hoping they'd engage the customers on forums such as this one. Not sure if my post there had anything to do with it, but it's good that they're being pro-active here. Hopefully, these are just the teething issues at the new factory in Mexico, but it did make me reconsider my car purchase.
