Milano Red Paint Blemish
Milano Red Paint Blemish
I'm only 3 weeks into the ownership of my 2015 Milano Red Fit LX, and it has me missing my 15 year old pickup truck. In addition to some initial quality issues and sloppy dealer prep (sticky adhesive left all over the vehicle, dirty exterior and interior) yesterday I noticed an approximate 1" x 1" paint blemish below the driver's door handle. . . the area is several shades darker and it looks like a permanent shadow. My neighbor even pointed it out to me today. I'm trying to convince myself that it's just another minor issue, but it's paint and you can't simply unbolt and put on a new part. And of course, it's right beneath the driver's door handle so I get to look at it every time I enter the vehicle. This is my 1st new car in 15 years and quite honestly, if I could return it, I would. The only upside is that I'm leasing, did not purchase, so after 36 months it goes back to Honda. Funny, because I was also considering a Fiat 500, but I decided to not buy the Fiat due to hearing about quality issues. And in fact, I was also considering a Civic prior to seeing the Fit, and even the service manager at my dealership told me to choose the Civic over the Fit. He told me they had more issues with the Fit. I should have listened to him. Sorry for the negative post.
There seems to be a lot of issues with the 2015 and since this is the first year production out of Mexico - makes me wonder. I have a Milano Red 2007 Honda Fit - 7 years old and paint still looks great. The car is a daily driver plus I use to show it on the weekend in import classes so it got washed and waxed a lot. Still looks just as good as the day I bought it. Sorry your having issues but I am happy that my Fit was made in Japan - where it seems that they took great pride in making this right.
The 06 Civic (and Si) and up is all DBW. I have an 07 Si and I hate the throttle. It feels like it has about 4 settings. I miss the mechanical throttle from my old GS-R.
Jonathan, social media customer service rep for Honda corporate, has been in touch with me about my delivery and quality issues. He seems to take a sincere interest in your concerns and he's been in contact with me several times. A sincere thanks for that! He's contacted my dealership and I'm going to take the car in this week to show them the suspicious paint spot/area on my car. I'm not really sure what can be done, but it's at least worth a look. Repainting the entire door scares me a little because in my experience, nothing can match the durability and look of a factory finish. And I'm not sure if the area can be successfully spot touched up. I suppose time will tell. Otherwise, the car is running just fine and I'm trying to regain my initial excitement for this car. I'm presently averaging 39 mpg - very impressive!
