Adding 12 Volt Outlets

Adding 12 Volt Outlets
I like having extra 12v outlets in my cars, especially ones that can be live any time. I have added two so far, and I'd like to add one or two more, especially in the hatch area.
I thought of ordering an outlet from Honda so it would match what's there already, but the cost would probably be unreasonable, and it might not fit. I got a couple from Autozone.
Removing the panel with the stock outlet is easy enough. You remove the silver screw in the upper, left corner and then gently maneuver the panel out. There are several wires connected to the rear of the panel. Gently release the connectors and pull them apart. They come apart easily once the little plastic catches are disengaged, so be patient and figure out how to release them.
Honda tells you to put tape around the edge of the dash before removing that panel, so you might want to do that. I didn't release the clips from inside the glove compartment area, but that's probably a good idea.
To drop the glove compartment down, open it and the push in slightly on the sides to release it.
With the panel out, I marked a spot and drilled a hole.
Finished product.
I put another outlet on the edge of the dash. Both are controlled by a switch. They remain live when the switch is turned on, whether the car is running or not.
These outlets are connected to a separate circuit breaker panel located near the passenger's feet. It is connected directly to the battery.
