Shift Knob and Direct Injection Noise.

Shift knob feels like a toy, and stick feels very lose when in neutral. Does anyone have a fix or an aftermarket knob or something?

Also, Does anyone else hear the direct injection from the engine when driving? I hear it when the car is still and when I slowly gas the pedal the direct injection noise eventually becomes a sort of high pitch whine noise that I can hear over the engine noise.
However, when I clutch and start coasting, it seems like the direct injection completely turns off until I gas again. Is this a problem on every fit?

Edit: it reminds me of the background noise from some anime. Like the noise from cicada bugs or like an electric plant or something.

I was with you until cicadas, lol.

I can here the difference between my old car and the fit's direct injection. it's definitely a bit more buzzy, particularly when slowing. I noticed the buzzing most at 1200 rpm in 1st.

however i hear no whine.

Accelerate slowly and focus on the direct injection noise. It eventually blends into a sort of whine for me. It's really annoying I noticed it while i was driving it today. It cannot be unheard

Just pretend you're driving the world's most refined diesel and you might feel better. That's my strategy.

Well that and the stereo.

Can't comment on the noise, but any aftermarket knob can work. I got a knob from Blox Racing that is a similar size to the OEM knob, but weighs nearly 1lb, 8x what the original weighed. The extra weight is definitely noticeable.

I believe the threads are 10x1.5.

Got the same and makes shifting weightier. As long as it says its for a Honda it will fit. Found it on Ebay. Can't go wrong for $50.

That said, will replace it with a leather OEM knob from a JDM GK RS. That should arrive in another month?

Hi Erikdag,

The sound you are describing could very well be the typical noise that a direct injection makes. Other customers have reported this as well. We would suggest visiting your local Honda dealership for a diagnosis. They can go on a test drive with you to also demonstrate if this consistent among the 2015 Fits.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach me here by private messaging your full name, VIN, mileage, and dealer so can better assist you.

Thank you,

Jonathan

Thanks for updating me about the knobs.

So here is a recording: https://soundcloud.com/alwayserik/20...it-lx-mt-noise

you can tell that there is a little bit higher pitch noise that goes along with the low end engine noise, maybe the direct injection, maybe not.. but it's driving me crazy.

I didn't hear anything abnormal.

I plan on adding more sound deadening once I get mine. I'm sure with all the complaints Honda will add more later in the production line.

Just read that you bought an LX. They dont get the extra sound deadening that the EX and EX-L do.

Honda thinks that people who want a more premium car will buy the CIVIC, so they cut corners on the FIT.

I think the lx noise is awesome! Well I'm 25 and I prefer a noisy car anyways. I can hear everything I want in the cabin. I wish the exhaust was a bit louder because this engine is a beast. It's a fun little car when you get the revs up to 6k. Now I just need a set of Hoosiers with rpf1s and I can go autox this thing

Here is a oem acura shift knob i purchased, just waiting for it to arrive.

You can also get a new shift boot ring that will fit flush to any other aftermarket shift knob, http://www.ebay.com/itm/370958984334?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Here is a picture or two of a used oem rsx type s shift knob with the aluminum boot ring linked above.Name: IMG_2251.jpg

I’ll just probably use the plastic boot ring and clip that comes with the brand new rsx knob i liked first.

The DI ambient noise is typical for the technology… I don't mind it at all, but then I'm coming from a VW TDi as my former car. Just keep reminding yourself the noise is what's giving you the great mileage!

I like noise cars too! Only thing bothering me is the sound i described with the direct injection ticking and the eventual hum/whine sound it makes when accelerating. Wish there was a way to dampen just that sound.

So I guess the sound is normal..

Now that I have that figured out, I just need someone to link me to a thread that has lots'a shift knob talk =P

Thanks guys!
