Adding Nav to my 2015 Fit Ex Manual?

There isn't an EX-L manual option, so navigation wasn't available when I bought it, since I wanted a manual.

Should I be able to convince my dealer to drop in an EX-L+nav head unit to be able to get navigation?

What about going for an aftermarket touchscreen stereo+nav system? Are there any integrations in the stock head unit that I'd lose by dropping in an aftermarket unit? (I'm thinking things like trip computer, setting the clock, or maybe something else I won't know to miss until it's gone)

Thanks!

I saw a regular EX head unit on Ebay once, which was listed for over $750.00 (came out of a test dummy car), I'm not sure it ever sold. Since your car would also need the GPS antenna, I doubt it can be a dealer installed option, without considerable expense. Of course, dealers do like to make money, so who knows? Question is, are you willing to spend that kind of money?

You should send a private message to 15BlkPrl, he is a service writer for a Honda dealership, and has done several trade-outs on his own Honda Fit (regular to leather steering wheel, etc). He would know, and might be able to tell you how much something like that might cost.

it would not be cost effective. it would cost over a $1000, and word has it the navs sucks anyway. i looked into just adding sirius to my ex, and it was complicated swith numerous dealership people not agreeing on what parts i needed and it was grossly overpriced.

just get a garmin, stick it to the window and enjoy the 6mt...

Amen to that! Add to that superior routing algorithms, better traffic information, and the fact that you can take it with you if you're driving with someone else!

Unfortunately, Garmin's best is being discontinued, from what I hear due to unavailability of parts. Many vendors are charging excess pricing for them... far more than you can buy them for on Garmin's site.

I love Garmin. Had two of their marine units and still use an eTrex 20.

I've looked into this for my 2nd gen, it is definitely not worth it. There is a lot of wiring that is specific to the units and you'd have to fabricate your own which is no easy task.

There is in fact an EX-L Navi 6mt option.....at least in Canada.......that's what I would get if I went with another Fit.

I prefer integrated navigation vs aftermarket peripherals

I have a much lower-priced unit. Still works great!

High end Garmin for me. Works better than the Fit Nav system. Some day honda will learn to leave this to the professionals

Has anyone used the HondaLink navigation or is it crap? I'm hoping to give it a try once they have it updated for Android. Its Either that or just use google maps from the phone via the HDMI port.

The standard EX head unit already has a GPS in it (afaik only thing it's used for is setting the clock), so there may not be any need for an external GPS.

When I looking around on the lot for the model I want I did sit in a standard EX and it didn't have Navi button on the menu. Even tho it's the same head unit as the EX with Navi.

It's possible the GPS hardware is there but not enabled to be usable?

My EX-L is specifically stated to have Navi. I was told to make use of the GPS feature for those don't have Navi is use the app on the phone via HDMI cable to get it.

I don't see why they can't make a DVD or thumb drive to upgrade an EX.

If the hardware is there and its just a matter of a software update I'd bet someone comes up with the necessary files to be placed on a thumb drive that will update the software. Just a matter of how much you trust some stranger on the net with your car.

It's probably a hidden factory menu we haven't been able to figure out yet.

It might be in the service manual?

I want to hear if anyone has used the HondaLink option. I know it's for iPhone only atm, but I'm surprised that it wasn't mentioned sooner in the thread. So if you have an iPhone, drop $50 on the app and go with that.

For Android nuts like me, proceed to wait until Android Auto finally takes over.
