Direct Injection + Atkinson cycle

According to Honda Worldwide | EARTH DREAMS TECHNOLOGY, the 3rd Gen Fit not only implements DI but also EGR with Atkinson cycle.
Wouldn't this be the worse combination in terms of the carbon buildup?
By injecting craps not only from PCV but also exhaust from the cylinders, I can't think of a single reason how and why our investment will last...

Re-read it, it's either/or not both. Atkinson in hybrid, high-capacity EGR in DI engine.

Extensive friction reduction measures achieved through the use of VTC based on DOHC and VTEC technology, as well as either cooled EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) technology with the Atkinson cycle, or high-capacity EGR technology with direct-injection technology for either hybrid or gasoline vehicles.

My bad
But, wouldn't the high-capacity EGR also accelerate carbon buildup in a DI system?

Change your air filter and oil on time and use top tier fuel. You'll be fine.

I hope that stands true for this car.

My 135i has had some serious issues with the carbon build up and I'm not even at 100k km yet. I've had to have the engine "walnut blasted" two times already to remove the carbon build up. This is because the car has given me check engine lights and gone into limp mode. Lucky for me, BMW has an amazing warranty that has covered all of this for free.

We had this problem with the Genesis Coupes for 2013+. A lot of guys had oil catch cans installed as a sort of knee-jerk reaction. After 30k miles, I opened up my intake and had no problems.
